The Rock and the Broken Heart
A long long time ago, back in the last century a Ft Ord BLM trail crew worker secretly fell in love with Meg. The beautiful Meg was a BLM staff worker. Our hero decided to announce his affections and intentions to Meg by moving a large rock to Meg's favorite spot on Ft Ord, a scenic overlook. The plan was to invite Meg to hike with him to the rock at the overlook. There he would describe the extent of his efforts while also revealing his feelings for her. Unfortunately, the plan was foiled. Unbeknown to our hero, that very day Meg had resigned and was preparing to move away to be betrothed to another. Shortly afterward and no one knows how, the rock split down the middle. To this day, the only thing that stands from our story is the broken stone with the name, Meg's Rock.
